GET A TIGER IN YOUR LIFE
A great many spectacular things have found their way into the famous Picadilly storefront displays over the years.
Among the most recent and spectacular were works by British art luminaries like Tracey Emin and Howard Hodgkin, which were displayed as part of our Fortnum’s X Frank exhibition.
And following the success of that innovative installation, Fortnum’s is delighted to welcome yet another great name in British creativity to their famous shop’s windows.
Artist David Bailey’s new installation of 400 bronze tiger models – created by Bailey with Pangolin Editions, and representing one of the 400 surviving Sumatran tigers in the wild – first appeared in our Piccadilly storefront windows, and is now in situ on our 1st floor.
Now the smallest surviving subspecies in the world, each bronze cast model is individually numbered and costs £400 to purchase – with every penny going to Greenpeace to assist in their efforts to protect the Sumatran tiger’s Indonesian island habitat from illegal deforestation.
A living artwork, the figures will be available to buy in-store and online – and as the individual tigers are sold, they will be removed from the window display, diminishing the artwork and demonstrating the speed with which this critically-endangered species might disappear from the planet.
